Privacy policy

Blue Giant Water Co ("we", "us") operates https://bluegiantwater.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. It is short because what we do is simple.

What we collect

What you give us. When you book a free water test we collect your name, phone number, email address, your ZIP code or home address, whether you are on city or well water, what you have noticed about your water, and anything you write in the notes box. We also record which page you submitted the form from.

Collected automatically. Standard web analytics: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at our site. We use Google Analytics and Google Ads for this.

Advertising identifiers. If you reach us by clicking one of our ads, we record the click identifier, so we can tell which advertising actually brings in customers and stop paying for the parts that do not.

Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google and Google receives your IP address as part of serving those files.

Why we collect it

To contact you about the water test you asked for.

To schedule and carry out an installation, and to support it afterwards.

To handle warranty claims, which can mean giving the manufacturer the details of your system.

To meet our tax and accounting obligations.

Text messages

If you tick the consent box on the form, we may text you about your appointment, your order or your account. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time.

We do not share mobile numbers or text-message consent with anyone for marketing purposes. That information stays with us and is used only to contact you about the service you asked for. Opting out of texts does not affect anything else.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. We do not add you to a mailing list because you once asked about a water softener.

Who we share it with

Only the people needed to run the business. Our site is hosted by Netlify, and form submissions pass through Netlify before reaching our inbox. Our email provider handles the messages themselves. Google handles our analytics and advertising measurement. For a warranty claim we may pass your system details to the manufacturer. Each is bound to use the information only to provide that service to us. We will also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies for analytics and advertising measurement. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may work less well if you do.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across every site using Google's browser add-on, and you can adjust ad personalisation in your Google account settings.

The water quality lookup

The ZIP lookup on our site sends you to the EWG Tap Water Database, which is run by the Environmental Working Group and is nothing to do with us. Your browser goes there directly and we never see the ZIP code you typed. What EWG does with it is covered by their own privacy policy. The results are general information about a utility, and they are no substitute for testing the water coming out of your own tap.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept while they are still useful to us and then deleted. Customer records are kept for as long as we support your system and for as long as tax and warranty obligations require.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Texas residents have rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, including the right to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Anything material will be made obvious on the site.
